Bishops Barristers & Solicitors began as a sole practice in 1988 and has provided legal services to the people of Launceston for over 40 years. The firm has grown into one of the largest law firms in the region and services clients around Tasmania and sometimes further afield. Steve Bishop is the Managing Partner and Consultant, and Julia Higgins and Tianna Freeman are Partners. The firm's combined experience is 150 years. Bishops provides family and relationship law services including parenting disputes, property division, and family violence issues.

My experience with this firm 10 years ago was fantastic with Julia. But most recently dealing with Michael Larcombe has been nothing short of disappointing. He has since left this firm and now I know why. He had my late husbands matter for over 4 years and it’s still unresolved.
Waiting for a return phonecall to make an appointment as there was noone available to do so when I rang. Not a good start.
Bishops helped me in a time of need and was always patient with me, educated me & for me through some of the toughest times. Tianna, Jo and even Franky at reception are amazing! Thankyou so much!
Their receptionist made some unintelligible comment to me on an initial phone call to Bishops and then hung up on me. It seemed to happen after I asked for a conflict check before I explain my matter further. I was not rude in any way. Just can't understand the poor and aggressive attitude on her behalf. All I can guess is that she was having a bad day, even though it was only 10am. Disappointing experience.

Dealing with Bishops and in particular Mr. Michael Larcombe, is dealing with professional people. It was always a pleasure. Mr Larcombe, from the outset explained to me what I needed to do, and how to go about it. Michael represented me at a number of court appearances, including the Supreme Court of Tasmania. At all time his professional appearance, direct approach in his advice, and his representation of my wishs was refreshing. Michael is upfront, does not speak to you in complicated legal terms and is well aware of the difficulity of a layperson trying to understand the court system. The outcome he gained in my case was better than expected, I can highly reccommend Mr. Larcombe for anyone seeking representation in court. John Reardon
