What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

Practical advice delivered with genuine care is the theme that runs through feedback on this Newcastle practice, particularly for divorce, separation and settlement work. Several reviewers describe being guided through unfamiliar court and settlement processes with clear explanations and prompt responses, and note that advice was shaped around their particular circumstances rather than applied in a standard way. Named staff recur in the accounts: Jacqui Kinloch is credited with professionalism, empathy and careful preparation, Ebony Purcell with compassion, composure and strategic thinking during emotionally charged family law matters, while Samantha and Prue are acknowledged for their commitment and availability.

A theme running through the feedback is how the combination of warmth and expertise made a difficult period more manageable, with questions answered thoroughly and communication sustained from first contact to finalisation. Reviewers also appreciate flexibility around appointment times, which allowed them to balance work and family responsibilities alongside their legal matter, and the reassurance of knowing their case was being handled capably. The recurring thread is advice that is straightforward, advocacy that is firm, and an approach focused on moving matters forward without unnecessary complication.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Clarity Law. I engaged the firm to assist me in family law proceedings involving my children. This was one of the most important matters of my life, and I trusted the advice I was given. I was advised by my original lawyer at Clarity Law, Nicole, in relation to allegations that I say were fabricated and which I believe I have objective evidence to disprove. I followed the legal advice provided and complied with every request made of me. My interim application was removed, and in my view no meaningful pathway was put in place afterwards to restore my relationship with my children. I believe funds were placed into trust for work connected with that interim hearing. Once the interim hearing was removed, I believe those funds should have been released or properly accounted for, rather than being used up through a mediation process that I do not believe was properly prepared for or likely to succeed without proper groundwork. I was later directed into mediation, which I do not believe was adequately prepared. Important issues I had raised beforehand were not properly addressed, and I was subsequently faced with a $4,000 non-disclosure claim despite having previously raised those matters with the firm. I am also concerned that Nicole was only working three days per week while she had conduct of my matter. I was not informed of this before she was allocated to my case, despite the urgency and importance of proceedings involving my children. Following mediation, Nicole left Clarity Law and conduct of my matter transferred to Samantha. The only discount I have been offered relates to the costs of getting Samantha up to speed with my matter, which I believe should have been a given when my file was transferred internally. Communication was also a significant issue. By my count, almost 29 emails went unanswered. I repeatedly sought updates, raised concerns, and provided information, yet many of those communications were not properly responded to. Another major concern was the handling of my divorce application. On multiple occasions, documents contained missing, incomplete, or incorrect information, resulting in delays and missed divorce hearing dates. I do not accept that I should be responsible for legal fees associated with correcting mistakes, redoing work, or dealing with issues arising from the firm’s own handling of the matter. Despite paying close to $30,000 in legal fees, I remain separated from my children and have seen little meaningful progress. My parents helped fund these proceedings through their superannuation, and I have now had to seek Legal Aid assistance. Samantha refused to act under Legal Aid and has claimed further charges outside the trust account. My file has not been released, despite the significant amount I have already paid, because Samantha is claiming further charges outside the trust account. I believe I am being expected to pay further costs connected to Nicole’s handling of the matter, including issues that contributed to the non-disclosure cost incurred by the other side. I hope this review gives other parents, particularly fathers involved in family law proceedings, a clearer idea of how vulnerable clients can feel when dealing with the family court system and the lawyers involved in it. Please be very careful when choosing legal representation. Family law clients are often emotionally distressed, financially exposed, and desperate to maintain relationships with their children. In my experience, I did not receive the preparation, communication, urgency, accountability, or value that I was entitled to expect. This review reflects my honest personal experience and opinions.

Ebony Purcell and the team at Clarity Lawyers, have been nothing short of incredible throughout our incredibly emotional and stressful family law matter. Ebony supported us with compassion, strength and professionalism every step of the way. Ebony’s preparation, attention to detail and strategic approach gave us confidence during difficult moments. She is calm, clear and genuinely cares about her clients. Prue and the team were always responsive, kind and organised, which made such a difference during such a challenging time. We are truly grateful for their dedication and support and would highly recommend Ebony and team to anyone needing strong, professional and compassionate representation.

Jacqui and the Team were nothing short of amazing through the entire process of tending to my separation. The advice was practical and targeted and they were more than willing to listen to, and understand, my preferences at times it may contradict standard process. They were flexible in approach and flexible with availability which was crucial for managing work and family commitments on to of the legal process. I felt supported and in capable hands through the entire process. I would definitely recommend the Team at Clarity.
