This review has been updated following receipt of a cease-and-desist letter from a solicitor acting for the firm in relation to my earlier review. This review accurately reflects my personal experience and opinions of Hey Family Law after using them for a DV property settlement matter. Others may have a different experience. Throughout the retainer, I experienced the communication and support provided differently from what I had anticipated. I often felt uncertain about aspects of my matter and would have appreciated more timely responses and clearer communication regarding the progression of my case. As someone with a history of domestic violence, I did not feel that the representation I received was aligned with my needs or expectations during a highly vulnerable period. This left me feeling unsupported during an already difficult and emotionally challenging time. Prospective clients should carefully consider whether the firm's communication style and approach are the right fit for their individual circumstances. Following the breakdown of the solicitor-client relationship, the firm ceased acting for me. Since engaging new legal representation, I have found the communication style to be clearer and more aligned with my individual needs as a client, and I feel my DV matter to be understood.

Olivia is a fantastic and sharp family lawyer. She took time to explain concepts and processes clearly and with ease, so that all varying levels of knowledge could understand easily. Working in the field, it was super important for me to find a lawyer with integrity and precision and I found that in Olivia. I couldn’t recommend Olivia (and Edie) enough.

I am now coming to the conclusion of a long and protracted family law matter involving both children and assets. Unfortunately, as I gather is often the case, it's not always a given that both of the clients are acting in good faith. Certainly, there have been some eye-opening, confronting, frustrating, hurtful and confounding moments that I didn't expect to have to deal with.
