I engaged Kenny Spring for a localized court matter, which was finalized by consent. However, the firm's post-matter communication and file management were highly unprofessional. Despite paying my trust deposit upfront, my file was allocated to a junior solicitor with barely nine months of post-admission experience. After being explicitly advised by this solicitor to contact the firm before taking any further steps if related issues arose, I reached out when opposing counsel bypassed standard protocols to maliciously serve documents directly to my administrative workplace. Instead of strategic guidance, I received a very brief, coldly drafted response stating they "did not understand" the issue. Shortly after, I escalated an urgent, time-sensitive Summons to Produce (subpoena) targeting the exact police records this firm had managed. The firm went completely silent, ignoring the live subpoena for 20 days. It was only after I issued a formal escalation to the Principal regarding statutory billing deadlines that they finally responded, only to distance themselves from their junior's verbal advice, state their retainer was closed, and wash their hands of the matter. While a firm has the right to close a retainer, ignoring a former client's urgent correspondence regarding a live subpoena for three weeks before telling them you won't help is an egregious administrative failure.
