If you are looking for a lawyer to advocate strongly for the other party during a business sale, David may be the right choice. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. David appeared to have limited knowledge of the medical business sector, which was the industry involved in my transaction. If a lawyer is not familiar with a client's industry, this should be disclosed before accepting the engagement. Throughout the process, I often felt that I had to handle negotiations myself, despite paying substantial legal fees. I was charged for communications and negotiations that I largely conducted on my own. More importantly, there was very little strategic advice provided. No meaningful suggestions were made regarding key commercial terms such as purchase price negotiations, rent-free periods, lease conditions, annual leave entitlements, or other matters that could have improved the outcome of the transaction. Having recently purchased my second business and worked with a different lawyer, I now understand the value that an experienced business-sale lawyer can bring. My current lawyer provided significantly more guidance, support, and negotiation assistance while charging approximately one-third of David's fees. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend David for a business sale transaction, particularly in the medical industry.
