How much does Law firms & solicitors cost in Mackay? (2026 price guide)

General legal advice typically costs $300-$600 for an initial consultation, with ongoing work charged at $250-$550 an hour depending on the solicitor's seniority and the firm's size. Straightforward matters like drafting a will typically cost $300-$800, while more involved matters such as contract disputes or business advice can run into several thousand dollars depending on complexity and time involved.

Cost is driven by matter complexity, whether it proceeds to negotiation or court, the solicitor's experience level and location, and whether the firm offers fixed fees or bills hourly. Urgent matters and those requiring barrister involvement typically cost significantly more.

Ask for a costs agreement outlining likely fees before work begins, and ask about fixed-fee options for standard matters like wills or contracts.
