What customers say

Based on genuine customer reviews

In Hobart, the practice draws repeat praise from clients who have used its services across several areas of law. A theme that comes up often is the professionalism and approachability of the staff, with several customers describing them as accurate and sound in the advice they give. Work handled for clients includes conveyancing, contract drafting, estate administration, probate and Letters of Administration, as well as family law matters such as relocation orders and financial settlements.

Trevor McKenna is singled out for his organisation, time management and hard work in achieving the results clients sought, while Adam Sheehan is described as engaging and empathetic, and Imogen Cook is remembered for guiding a client through probate and estate management with patience and genuine care. The fees are repeatedly characterised as reasonable, including in matters involving property and financial settlements. Clients note that queries are handled helpfully and that matters are seen through to the outcome they wanted. The practice's breadth across criminal justice, personal injury, family law, conveyancing and trial work is reflected in the range of matters clients bring to it, and the consistent thread is the care taken with each engagement.

I cannot recommend Imogen Cook from Ogilviey Jennings highly enough. During an incredibly difficult time after my father’s passing in the midst of the pandemic, Imogen guided me with compassion, patience, and professionalism through the probate and estate management process. In a legal world that often feels transactional and impersonal, Imogen is refreshingly genuine –she truly cares about her clients and takes the time to listen, explain, and support every step of the way. Her warmth, attention to detail, and unwavering integrity gave me comfort and confidence when I needed it most. I am so grateful for her expertise and the human touch she brings to the law – she went above and beyond, and I feel blessed to have had her by my side.

I would not recommend this firm for any legal matters. My representing lawyer took unforeseen leave and then left the firm leaving me with significant delays and multiple fill in lawyers. The firm failed to recognise my loses and never worked in my best interests. They then charged me a fortune. A horrible experience!

Would not recommend Ogilvie Jennings for conveyancing for the purchase of a home, particular if you are a first home buyer and looking for some level of transparency regarding the process and how it is traveling along. We did not receive any responses to our queries, even when asking directly and politely. Honestly the whole process felt like one long, stressful baby-sitting session – with us needing to remind them about deadlines and forms that we needed to receive or sign. Would advise exploring other options if looking for a conveyancer with your best interests at heart.

Engaged on an estate matter. Sent through all the relevant CORRECT dates prior. Looked up and read the relevant legislation. On first face to face meeting after documents exchanged and numerous back and forth incorrect advice was given based on a completely incorrect date. Luckily I was able to point out the error early because I had read the legislation. I would give more stars if it was not a law firm, really not good enough when you are paying a lot for attention to detail.Matter was resolved positively but hard to have full confidence when such little attention was paid in the beginning.

Had a workers compensation claim dealt with Christine Schokman she did managed to obtain and out-of-court settlement, but I have had some follow-up questions after it was all finalised and have been completely ignored! maybe because there's no money in it for them any more just to answer a simple email very unprofessional if you ask me.
